Welcome to the Toasty Tourist! I’m Laura, and I live outside Atlanta, GA with my husband, our assortment of furry friends, and sometimes our college aged children. Travel has always been the ultimate dream for me, but it seemed out of reach for most of my life. My husband and I became parents in our early twenties, so we skipped the “travel when you’re young” phase. Now that I have the freedom of an empty nest (although I hate that term!), I’m obsessed with exploring and learning more about our world. I would love to have you along for the journey!
My favorite pastime is learning as much as I can about different destinations, both well traveled and less traveled. Travel excites me, it gives a much needed new perspective, and I truly believe this is the perfect time (let’s call it the prime of life rather than midlife) to see as much of our amazing world as possible (more about this here).
I’m not a travel blogger who quit her full time job to wander the world – I just adore travel while I still LOVE being in my own home, snuggling my pets under a blanket, and being near my loved ones. I’m a homebody with wanderlust.
My specific travel interests are things that bring me joy and a little adventure. This includes plenty of local wines and cocktails – I may not like it all, but I’ll be honest about it! I love trying food local to the region I’m in. I test out travel products and clothing that help optimize packing for any season and situation. And wherever I go, I find cats! I will provide information on ways to support local animal shelters and organizations (like this one).
