If you are thinking of booking at Hotel Xcaret Arte (HXA), you know that the grounds are stunning! There’s jungle, beach, and an incredible network of coves and rivers. Plus, you have all the amenities and service expected at a five-diamond resort. I highly recommend downloading the Hotel Xcaret app – there is a detailed map for both HXA and the sister (connected) resort, Hotel Xcaret Mexico. There is additional information on their website as well.

There are a total of 5 buildings (casas) with rooms: Casa de los Artistas, Casa del Diseno, Casa de la Piramide, Casa de la Musica, and Casa de la Paz. There is an additional casa, Casa del Patron, which is the location of many of the restaurants. The overall theme of the resort is a focus on Mexican arts, and each casa highlights a different art form: painting, fabric design, pottery, music, and literature. Each casa hosts a workshop for its chosen art form – you can register when you get there!
The type of room you choose will determine the casa you are in. You will not know prior to arrival, except for the room classes that are specific to a certain casa, such as Artistas or Paz. Also, if you are traveling in a group, you can request that everyone be placed in the same casa, but they won’t guarantee that before you arrive.
This is the premier casa with special amenities. You will have a butler assigned to your room, you have access to Kibi Kibi restaurant, the Artistas rooftop pool, free access to Sunday brunch in Hotel Xcaret Mexico (HXM), and access to the entirety of HXM, including Casa Fuego/Fuego restaurant (the HXM version of Casa de los Artistas).
*ALL rooms in Artistas are labeled “Adults” or “Adultos”.* This is where a LOT of people get confused when booking. If you book a room called River Adults Suite, Ocean Front Adults Suite, Swim Up Ocean Front Adults Suite, Junior Suite Ocean Front Adults, or Presidential Ocean Front Adults Suite, your room will be in the Artistas casa.
This is the casa that houses Muluk Spa. It is in the back of the resort, and is a great choice if you are looking for a peaceful stay. The exclusive amenities in Casa de la Paz are a volcanic stone tub on the terrace, and a steam shower. *All rooms in Paz are labeled “Spa”.* These include Garden Spa Suite, River Spa Suite, and Junior Suite River Spa.
Even if you don’t stay in Casa de la Paz, check out the spa if you can – it’s a really beautiful corner of the resort, and the hydrotherapy circuit is affordable, and $45 USD per person.
You could spend days exploring the resort, and I highly recommend setting aside some time to do just that! The Espiral is the centerpiece of the resort, and sits directly between HXA and HXM. At the top is a wedding chapel, but it’s worth the climb for the views. If you don’t feel like making the trek on foot, they have a trolley that runs from top to bottom.
Artistas, Musica, Piramide, and Diseno all have rooftop pools (my favorites are Artistas and Diseno because they have food and great views). A rooftop pool crawl is a great way to spend an afternoon! Some of the casas have an additional ground level pool (Musica, Artistas, and Piramide). In addition, the main pool is a ton of fun with sweeping views and attentive staff. All the water was comfortable, but the warmest pool we found was the ground level pool at Piramide.
The Xcaret hotels were built around the natural coves and rivers that run through the property. Those unique geographical features are what really sealed the deal for me. We had so much fun floating in the rivers, kayaking, and looking for fish. The river area is dotted with little islands and rope bridges – there’s something to see around every corner!
We enjoyed the coves and rivers so much, we didn’t make it down to the beach area until our last day. Riviera Maya has problems with sargassum for some of the year, but they have a huge staff working very hard to keep the beaches clean. The beach area, while small, has chairs, drink service, and the clear blue sea you expect from the area.
I hope this helps clarify your choices for suites at Hotel Xcaret Arte. You really can’t go wrong, so check rates and choose based on your budget and needs! Happy Travels!
